HEBERLY ENGINEERING was created in July of 2010, to offer a wide range of civil engineering services. We specialize in creative solutions and effectively utilize common sense to complete projects from the engineering stage, all the way through final construction.
We have a strong track history of working alongside other engineers on projects and work to help creatively rethink the design or construction approach saving our clients thousands of dollars.
HEBERLY ENGINEERING has been working to reduce costs since before the company was even created. One example of a project that produced a significant savings of time and money was for Oregon Department of Transportation. Mr. Heberly worked on an interchange project in Canyonville Oregon, where his solution raised Interstate 5 by paving multiple layers of HMAC to a total of about 16″ and redirected the underpass drainage so the water could flow as it was before. The net savings of this simple redesign was about $500,000 and ultimately reduced the construction timeline by 1 year.
When the concept of raising the interstate came up, other engineers were hesitant due to the thought that the old interstate would need to be ripped up in order to build a new foundation. Our thought; “why rip up something that has a solid base?” By adding additional HMAC to the existing “solid” foundation, we were able to reduce the cost’s associated with excavation and placement of a new subbase. At the same time, we were able to effectively grade the new interstate in order to avoid a failed drainage plan that was also an issue that existed in the prior plan. By raising the interstate up, we effectively avoided drainage issues by letting the water flow as it previously was, instead of catching in a proposed, lower underpass road. Common Sense was applied, and a difficult underpass concept was completely changed, saving ODOT money and time while adhering to construction standards and specifications.
The services offered by HEBERLY ENGINEERING are comprised of many aspects of Transportation Engineering; complete roadway, erosion control, and pavement design, specification writing, construction inspection, construction/project management, construction scheduling, drainage design, and other traffic engineering functions.
Our services offered for General Civil Engineering include site design, culvert sizing and storm sewer design, hydraulic calculation, drainage impact letters and review, aspects of hydraulic evaluations of watersheds, drainage and roadway certifications, pole barn designs/design checks.
