The North Umpqua Highwayproject was a 14.4 mile long stretch of the North Umpqua Highway, which runs parallel to the NorthUmpqua River. The river has been designated as aFederal Wild and Scenic River and a State ScenicWaterway. The project consisted of some minor horizontal and vertical alignment changes, roadwaywidening, bridge rail upgrade, drainage rehabilitation, metal beam guard rail, and other upgradeswhich were necessary to providea more uniform driving experienceand for safe travel speeds
